I have my forum set up for no editing after 30 minutes for registered users and no editing for guests. The problem comes when a user ticks the notifications box. Which means if a registered user ticks the "E-mail notification on replies in this thread" box they have no way of un-subscribing at a later date unless they contact the admin which is annoying.

That's understandable.

Each notification email should have an un-subscribe link so the user can click on it if they do not want to be bothered by notifications any more at a later date.
